The exhilarating journey commences two days after your arrival in South Africa.


Day of arrival in South Africa

 

Upon touchdown in South Africa, a vibrant welcome awaits as we rendezvous with the group at Cape Town International Airport. From there, the excitement only mounts as we convene at the hotel, gathering to review the itinerary once more. Ensuring everyone is primed and prepared, we embark on this thrilling adventure together, ready to embrace every moment of the journey ahead.

Day 1: This day unfolds with excitement as we embark on our first adventure: collecting bikes and setting off on a short ride through Chapman’s Peak, where breath-taking vistas await us. As we wind our way over Scarborough to the charming penguin colonies, we acclimate to the rhythm of South Africa’s tarred roads and the invigorating riding climate. Returning to the hotel, we prepare for the early morning journey to Hermanus, eager to continue our exploration of this captivating landtrip.

Day 2: Following a hearty breakfast, we set forth on our next leg of the journey, tr  acing the twists and turns of Clarence Drive along the scenic coastal route. Our destination: Stoney Point, where we immerse ourselves in the natural habitat of the enchanting penguins. Continuing along the coastal road, we press onward to Hermanus, with anticipation high for the chance to witness the majestic Southern right whales in their awe-inspiring marine domain.
As we embark on our coastal journey towards Hermanus after breakfast, it’s worth noting that the majestic Southern right whales grace our shores only from July to December. Therefore, while our hope s are high to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures, we also understand the importance of timing and the natural rhythms of their migration. Nonetheless, as we ride along the scenic coastal road, we remain open to the beauty and wonders that South Africa has to offer, ready to embrace every moment of our adventure.

Day 3: Today promises a mix of exhilarating riding experiences, transitioning from smooth tarred roads toadventurous gravel paths. Following breakfast, we bid farewell to the comfort of our hotel and set our course towards the renowned Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, where the mighty meeting of two oceans awaits.

After soaking in the awe-inspiring vistas at Agulhas, we chart our course towards Malgas, passing through the charming town of Bredasdorp. Our journey takes us along a picturesque gravel road, meandering through verdant farms and scenic landscapes. As we approach Malgas, anticipation mounts for the highlight of our day: crossing the iconic Malgas Pond.

Arriving at the historic Malgas Hotel, we eagerly anticipate their signature dinner, a culinary delight that promises to tantalize our taste buds. With the night ahead filled with the excitement of crossing the pond, we relish in the camaraderie of our fellow travellers and the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 4: Today’s journey offers a thrilling mix of terrains, starting on gravel roads and transitioning to smooth tarred ones. After breakfast, we navigate the historic Malgas Pond on route to Witsand for a seaside lunch. Continuing on, we reach Heidelberg before heading to the Garden Route Game Lodge. Here, we embark on our first game drive, eagerly anticipating sightings of the wild animals in their natural habitat. As the day concludes, we’re left with memories of adventure and wildlife encounters that will last a lifetime.

Day 5: Following breakfast, our journey continues as we ride towards the enchanting coastal town of Knysna, nestled amidst the breath-taking scenery of the Garden Route. As we traverse the winding roads, the lush forests and azure waters of the Tsitsikamma region beckon us forth.

Our first stop is Tsitsikamma, a natural wonderland renowned for its rugged coastline and verdant forests. Here, we embark on a memorable visit to the iconic Storms River Bridge, where we marvel at the engineering feat that spans the tumultuous waters below. A leisurely stroll across the famed Storms River Swing Bridge offers us panoramic views of the majestic surroundings, with the crashing waves serving as a reminder of nature’s raw power and beauty.

Continuing our exploration, we make our way to the ancient giants of the forest, where the towering Big Tree stands as a silent sentinel amidst the verdant canopy. Immersed in the tranquillity of this ancient wilderness, we reflect on the timeless beauty of nature.

As the day draws to a close, we find solace and comfort at the Tsitsikamma Inn, a welcoming haven nestled amidst the serene surroundings. Here, surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the gentle rustle of leaves, we unwind and recharge, ready to embrace the adventures that tomorrow holds.

Day 6: Today marks our well-deserved resting day, a chance to indulge in exhilarating activities and unwind amidst the beauty of Tsitsikamma. We kick off the day with an adrenaline-pumping adventure, soaring through the treetops on a thrilling zip-lining excursion. From high above, we marvel at the lush canopy below, feeling the rush of wind against our faces as we glide through the forest.

After our high flying adventure, we make our way to the local brewery, where we’re treated to a tasting of handcrafted beers, each sip a celebration of local flavours and craftsmanship. With glasses raised in toast, we revel in the camaraderie of fellow bikers, sharing stories and laughter as we bask in the warm glow of friendship.

As the day transitions into evening, we retreat to the comfort of the hotel bar, where lively music and cheerful ambiance set the stage for an unforgettable night of fun. With drinks in hand and spirits high, we dance and sing the night away, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Tonight, we celebrate the joys of adventure, friendship, and the simple pleasures of life in Tsitsikamma.

Day 7: As we bid farewell to the tranquil charm of the Tsitsikamma Inn, our journey continues with a stop in the picturesque town of Sedgefield, where we pause for a leisurely light lunch. Amidst the serene surroundings, we  savour the flavours of the region, taking in the beauty of the moment before pressing onward.

Our next destination is George, a bustling hub nestled amidst the verdant landscapes of the Garden Route. From there, we embark on an unforgettable day trip to Oudtshoorn, renowned for its ostrich farms and the awe-inspiring Cango Caves.

At the ostrich farm, we immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of these magnificent birds, learning about their habits and habitats through interactive experiences. From feeding sessions to thrilling ostrich rides, we gain a newfound appreciation for these flightless giants.

Next, we venture deep into the ancient limestone formations of the Cango Caves, where we’re awestruck by the otherworldly beauty of stalactites and stalagmites. Guided tours lead us through narrow passageways and vast chambers, unveiling the secrets of this natural wonder.

As the day draws to a close, we reflect on the wonders we’ve encountered, grateful for the opportunity to experience the rich tapestry of life in the Western Cape. With memories etched in our minds and hearts, we journey back to our accommodations, ready to rest and rejuvenate before the adventures that await us tomorrow.

Day 9: With the dawn of a new day, we set our sights on the charming coastal town of Still Bay, our starting point for another thrilling off-road expedition. As we navigate the rugged terrain, each twist and turn unveils breath-taking panoramas of the Western Cape’s untamed beauty.

Leaving the coastal breeze behind, we venture towards Swellendam, where a delightful lunch awaits us at the iconic Malgas Filling Station. Here, amidst vintage charm and warm hospitality, we indulge in culinary delights that tantalize the taste buds and rejuvenate the spirit.

Refreshed and refuelled, we continue our journey, traversing the scenic Tredoux Pass as it winds its way through majestic mountains and verdant valleys. The road unfolds before us, offering a symphony of sights and sounds that stir the soul.

As evening descends, we arrive in the quaint town of Barrydale, where we pause to soak in the laid-back ambiance and artistic flair of this hidden gem. From there, we ride onwards to our final destination for the day: Montagu, a picturesque oasis nestled amidst rolling hills and vineyards.

As we settle into our accommodations for the night, surrounded by the tranquillity of the countryside, we reflect on the adventures of the day with gratitude and anticipation for the experiences that await us tomorrow.

Day 10: As we bid farewell to Montagu, our journey takes an intriguing turn as we pass by the historic Montagu church, home to the largest ibis colony in the region. Amidst the bustling energy of this vibrant town, we witness the graceful flight and lively chatter of these magnificent birds, a reminder of nature’s enduring presence amidst human habitation.

Continuing our expedition, we venture through the picturesque Robertson wine valley, where rows of vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, offering a feast for the senses and a tantalizing glimpse into South Africa’s winemaking heritage.

Our route then leads us to the awe-inspiring Huguenot Tunnel, a marvel of engineering that carries us through the heart of the majestic mountains. As we emerge on the other side, we find ourselves in the quaint town of Franschhoek, where French-inspired charm and exquisite cuisine await. Here, amidst the lush landscapes and historic architecture, we indulge in a memorable evening, savouring the finest wines and culinary delights that Franschhoek has to offer. With hearts full and spirits lifted, we retire for the night, cherishing the memories of our journey thus far.

Tomorrow, as we make our way back to Cape Town on a short ride, we carry with us the experiences and connections forged along the way, grateful for the beauty and camaraderie that have enriched our adventure.

Day 11: As our journey nears its end, we embark on a scenic ride through the iconic Franschhoek Pass, a route renowned for its breath-taking vistas and winding mountain roads. With each twist and turn, we are treated to panoramic views of vineyards, valleys, and rugged peaks, a fitting finale to our adventure through the Western Cape.

As we descend from the heights of Franschhoek Pass, we continue our journey via the picturesque Grabouw Pass, where the air is infused with the sweet scent of orchards and forests. The road unfolds before us, a ribbon of asphalt weaving through the serene countryside, as we savour the final moments of our ride.

Arriving back in Cape Town, we are greeted with a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment, knowing that we have traversed some of the most scenic and exhilarating routes the region has to offer. With the bikes safely delivered and memories of our journey etched in our minds, we return to the comfort of our hotel, cherishing the bonds forged and the adventures shared on this unforgettable expedition.

Day 12: Flights back home. As the sun sets on our journey, we bid farewell to our fellow adventurers, each heading back home with memories to cherish. With hugs and well-wishes, we part ways, grateful for the shared experiences and new friendships formed. Until we meet again, safe travels and fond farewells.
