The Cost to become a
CATHSSETA ACCREDITED LEVEL NQF 4
Cultural Tourist Guide - Cape Town:
R7,800.00
If you would like to extend your guiding area, by including the Garden Route / Western Cape or all the 9 provinces of South Africa, to your certification (qualification), it will cost R600.00 per additional province.
This qualification includes an assignment about each
province and a short exam. This is done at your own
discretion and pace.
Those Tourist Guides who want to be driver guides have to apply for a Public Driving Permit (PDP) independently as well.

Qualifying as a Cultural Tourist Guide doesn’t give you a free pass to a tourist guiding position. However, we will assist in giving ample information regarding tour operators, educationals and possible openings in the industry.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of competence from Jenol Tour Guiding Academy and an accredited certificate from Cathsseta.
With these certificates, you will be able to register at the department of tourism, to become a Cultural Tourist Guide.

Once a student is registered, we need the following:
1. A certified copy of your ID / Passport or permanent residence.
2. Student must preferably be 21 years of age and older.
3.Contact details: Address, email and phone number.
4. Minimum of a Grade 11 or Matric Certificate.
5. Short CV
6. Covid-19 Vaccination certificate
7. Proof of registration payment: deposit slip / receipt.
